Shelbie - Labrador Retriever (San Jose, California)

Shelbie is yet another victim of a bad economy. Life was good for Shelbie. She got to take rides in the family SUV, she got to go swimming and she was taken on long, daily walks. But all of that changed very suddenly when Shelbie’s family lost their home.

They surrendered her to the local shelter and waved goodbye. Shelbie patiently waited for them to return and take her for a ride home. She was a good dog at the shelter. She was friendly and outgoing and got along well with the other dogs. But that didn’t seem to matter. No one was interested in adopting Shelbie and her time had run out.

Then, luckily, Shelbie caught the attention of Lab Rescue and she was saved. Whew, that was a close call!

Shelbie is just a love! She has a sweet, mellow disposition, has the wagging tail of the typical Lab and she stands ready to smother you with kisses – just let her know when you are ready. Shelbie likes to be near her humans.

Snooki - Shepherd Mix (Spring Lakes, New Jersey)

With a smile like that, it's no wonder she's a star.
Meet Snooki.

No, not THAT Snooki. This is the original, a Shepherd mix. Snooki's a Jersey Girl through and through and would make a great pet for an older person looking for a companion. Snooki's been through the ringer as of late and her nerves are a bit jangled from spending much of her time in shelters, so whether you can adopt her, or even just foster her until she finds the right forever home, I have no doubts that she'll appreciate a quiet place to crash for a while.

No children or excitable pets for this old girl. Her partying days are behind her and she's looking for a nice mellow home to call her own.

To find out how to contact Rescue Ridge to find out how you can adopt or foster Snooki, check out her original posting at: http://www.adoptapet.com/pet4894056.html

Lavergne: Poodle (Lake Charles, Louisiana)

This old girl still has a lot of spring in her step at 11 years old.

As the volunteers at the LPAW Rescue & TNR in Lake Charles, Louisiana, she's not letting the tough cards that she's been dealt keep her down.

All reports are that she's healthy and up to date on shots, as well as being spayed.

She has cataracts, "but sees well enough get around and to find an empty lap or full food bowl!"

Looking both of these pictures you can tell she's just grateful to spend her time with the people she loves. The great part of adopting a sweetie like Lavergne is that it allows LPAW to take in a pet even worse off than her.

Wouldn't it be great if it were you were that person to make that kind of difference?

To find out more about Lavergne, check out her ad on Petfinder.
